In this blog post Peter describes how BailongBall has become a companion through his private but also his professional life and how he was able to combine hobby and profession with the and through the sport. A development and synergy worth reading – but read for yours
The development from “Taiji Bailong Ball” to “Bailong Ball” during the last years was exciting to follow. New structures, new points of view and new influences demand a confrontation with the familiar and what you became used to.
Since 2007 I have been practicing the different disciplines. Actually, it all started with a birthday present arranged by my wife. She saw the advertisement for “Taiji Bailong Ball” and bought the racket for our youngest daughter: “…she will surely like it for her birthday…”. It turned out, she did not like the racket game as expected, but I sure did.
The closeness to QiGong made this sport interesting for me. It did not take long for me to enroll in a course to become a “Taiji Bailong Ball -Trainer”.
With my QiGong teacher degree and the trainer certificate “Taiji Bailong Ball (TBB)” I went into self-employment as a movement therapist. The idea behind this racket game fascinated my wife and me so tremendously that we decided to pass on our impressions and findings to a wider range of therapists. Regularly, from 2009 to 2015, we had a booth including playing area at the trade fair “Therapie Leipzig”. In the exchange with the professional trade fair visitors we sharpened our arguments and statements, so that also the quality of our fair appearance became better.
Our main concern was the movement concept of this then new sport and the message “therapy should be fun”.
In 2013, a professional calling motivated us to move to Austria. By then, TBB had reached beyond our past time to become part of our professional thinking, as well. Due to the uncomplicated handling of movement offers at this Tyrolean spa, we were able to continue our new professional thinking. And so, many guests came into first contact with (Taiji) BailongBall. Another employment in Lower Austria followed and again we found guests interested in the sport. Reaching retirement age, this phase finally ended in 2019.
But one thing remained: enjoyment of the sport practiced, rediscovered mobility without pressure – this is what therapy can and should be all about.
I remained true to this principle ever since I have returned to Germany.
As a QiGong teacher with courses certified by the Zentrale Prüfstelle Prävention, the desire and intention to be able to pass on BailongBall in a certified course was clearly there. The sport’s closeness to the basic values of QiGong helped me to get BailongBall certified as well in February 2023. In March 2023 I also received the certificate for the course with young people (13 – 17 years). The course, which is sponsored by health insurance companies, is called “QiGong with Ball” and is approved by all health insurance companies nationwide. The course for teenagers is called “QiGong with Ball -Junior-“.
Sporty & therapeutic greetings 😊
